Miss Gene Marshall in Promenade by MelOdom /Ashton Drake PLUS her Doggies

From the well-kept collection of a meticulous Doll collector: Miss Gene Marshall in "Promenade" with doggies "Out for a Stroll" by Mel Odom / Ashton Drake. This ensemble was released in 1997 and retired in 1998.

Miss Gene Marshall in "Promenade" has been professionally styled specifically for this ensemble. Her hat has been reworked so that the bow and net are attached by thread, and will not move. Her blouse has also been altered to fit her better. The bow at her neckline has been added to a neckerchief which snaps in the back so that it will, as well, fall in the proper place without needing to be adjusted.

Miss Marshall wears a springtime, lavender walking suit made a fine Egyptian cotton, with a fitted tulip skirt and fully lined bolero jacket. Her sleeveless Navy and white gingham blouse with a bow at the collar perfectly matches her checked shoes, as well as the lining of her jacket.

Her matching lavender, veiled hat, white gloves, nude hosiery, and "pearl" earrings provide the finishing touch for her outfit. She wears her shiny chestnut brown hair in a casual springtime updo.

She carries the leashes for her adorable doggies Dottie (white female) and Dashiell (black male) in her hand. This ensemble was made especially for walking her dogs and so it is appropriate that they be with her. Prior to "publicity photos" The ensemble is/was brand new straight out of the box and steam pressed for Miss Marshall. Her doggies are also straight out of their boxes with their certificate of authenticity.

Dashiell and Dottie come with jeweled collars and gold-toned leashes. They were released in 1997, retired in 2001, and designed by Etta Foran. Dashiell is a Scotch terrier, and Dottie is a West Highland terrier.

Their story is covered completely in the story card for Promenade. Always being under the public eye can be trying at times for a Hollywood star. Everywhere you go flash bulbs pop. Yet Gene is always ready with a smile and a waive, because she knows these fans helped her achieve her dream of stardom. The paparazzi scramble to take Gene's picture when she takes her two beloved dogs Dottie and Dashiell, for their walk.

Gene loves to be outdoors, even in the immaculately tended landscapes of Beverly Hills. She always stops to chat with her neighbors as they walk their dogs.

There is the powerful German producer with his dachshund, the heartthrob singing idol with his poodle, and even a deposed European Prince with a proud Afghan hound. Dashiell and Dottie begin straining at their leashes as they near the Green Parrot Restaurant, "the" place where the stars go to dine. The terriers know there will be a rare Delmonico steak for them in the cloakroom, and Gene would love a cool iced coffee and Oysters Rockefeller for lunch. "Promenade, " said the movie magazine caption under a photo of Gene from this day. Even in the grainy magazine photo, her fashion panache shines through. Gene and all accessories (including doggies) come in her original White Ashton Drake box. Gene's doll stand is included.
