Rare Ashton-Drake Mel Odom "SIMPLY GENE" Holiday Gold 16 Gene Marshall Doll by Bobby Taylor of Taylor Made Dolls. Special Edition made exclusively for Gene's Hollywood Canteen Club in 2000 by Taylor Made Dolls. The COA and wrist tag are inscribed and signed on the back by Bobby Taylor. According to the COA, the outfit for this Gene doll was based on an authentic 1950's design presented courtesy of Valentino's in Hollywood, California exclusively for the Gene Collection. She is elegantly dressed in Bobby Taylor's custom gold version of Gene's Holiday Magic outfit.
She has a gold satin bodice, white opera length gloves, white tulle and shiny gold skirt and heels. From what little information I've been able to find online, this is from a series of holiday/Christmas themed custom "gold" Gene doll designs made for special events. Beautiful doll, which seems to be extremely rare since I've looked all over and haven't been able to find any previous sales records of this doll. She comes with what looks like a hand drawn/colored fashion drawing of the doll and a small gold gift box with ribbon.
